CHECK THE SURVEY AREA on this map: (BACK to main page)
(HINT: you can see this map on your phone and your own realtime position on it. Easiest way is to go to this webpage on your phone's browser, and enlarge the map to full screen (works on iphone 11). Or click on the "share" icon on the map at top right, and send that link to your phone, click on it there and it will open google maps. Or, download the kml to your phone and use the Google Earth app)

EVERYONE IS WELCOME to join—beginners and experts, young and old. If you have never counted before, we will team you up with more experienced people. Email Guy (badgerboy AT wilkes DOT net) to sign up

THIS YEAR, our CBC will be held on Sunday, Dec. 20, 2026.

LUNCH- The count circle is remote and winter is off-season, so great idea to bring water/snacks/lunch. Some years the Stone Mountain Country Store (Phone# 336.957.8184) is open on John P. Frank parkway near the entrance to the state park. This should be checked as they aren't always open during the holidays.

SUBMIT YOUR DATA to Guy, email above. Please download NEW FORMS each year! The following forms may be sent either by email or as hard copies.
  • BEST: e-Form  (SMCBC E-Form.ods) spreadsheet for sending by email
  • DISCOURAGED:  Printable form (SMCBC Field Data Sheet.pdf) Use only if E-form doesn't work. PDF for mailing or handing in.
  • FIELD USE ONLY: Field DataCard, consisting of Front and Back.  These PDF's can be printed double-sided on standard paper, then cut in half for use in the field. Printed on card stock, and folded in quarters, great shirt-pocket fit for quick data tally. Great backup if phone or reception fails. NOTE: MUST BE transferred by team leader to E-form or Print-form above, then sent to compiler.
PAST RESULTS-
SECTOR MAPS: Birders are assigned areas to count as shown above. Marked-up maps of each of the sectors are included below to help birders find their way around. These include ground-truthed road names and pond locations.
